Kryz belongs to the first generation of fashion bloggers – that batch of influencers before “influencer” was even a word. And right in front of our eyes, she grew from a teeny bopper to a glowing mom. Now, she’s one-third of the #SKYfam – the Slater-Kryz Young family – along with husband Slater Young and baby Scott Knoa Young.
Now a vlogger, she continues to share her life experiences on YouTube. She talks about being a new mom – her expectations versus the surprises – and how her life was transformed.
One of the seemingly small things that women go through because of pregnancy is skin changes. But when this happens, it doesn’t just mean you feel a little bit drier or oilier throughout the day; it could also mean extreme skin dryness that causes itchiness, redness, scaling, or flaking.
Even for someone like Kryz, who religiously followed a skincare routine pre-pregnancy, her skin changed from dry to extremely dry and itchy. And as a busy mom, she doesn’t have the luxury of time to visit her dermatologist whenever there’s a #skinmergency or even follow an elaborate skincare routine. That’s why products that provide immediate relief are so important to her.
See the adjustments she made to her daily routine to address these skin issues and how she goes about the rest of her day.
FIRST GRAB. The first thing I grab when I open my eyes is my baby lol. Sometimes, I wake up naturally with a mom’s instinct. And sometimes, Scottie’s voice or his cries work as my alarm clock.
SKINCARE ESSENTIALS. Right after I get out of the shower, I lather my whole body with Aveeno Skin Relief Lotion. On parts where I am feeling a bit flakey or dry, I put some Aveeno Dermexa Cream. My skin is super dry, so I need a lot of TLC!
Then, I apply toner, serum, eye cream, and moisturizer – finishing off with sunblock!
BEFORE I START. A must-listen before I start my day are my Spotify playlists – which include #SKYfam playlists or the Skyfam podcast for sure! Other things I need are a hair tie and a sleeping baby! I can only work when Scottie naps.
IF I MUST GO. I like to keep things simple and sanitary. I only wear clothes that cling to my body and definitely no loose pieces that might touch unnecessary surfaces. Of course, I also bring a face shield and a mask.
I keep a small tube of Aveeno Skin Relief Lotion in my bag, but I only use it after I wash my hands and I’m safely back in a private space. We wash our hands all the time now, which means they are prone to getting drier and drier. We need to seal our skin with something that will immediately moisturize and even keep the moisture trapped inside, like Aveeno!
IF I’M STAYING IN. My perfect look inside is a loose jumpsuit for sure – something easy for comfort and breastfeeding. It feels good to wear something comfy after a nice warm bath with my fave super moisturizing Aveeno Skin Relief Body Wash.
FAVE DELIVERS. I love Snoogies Kitchen cheesecakes, @YiFangCebu milktea, and Danessa’s Kitchen empanadas! These are all based in Cebu! Support local!
ROUTINE REMINDERS. My routine has definitely changed – not only because of the pandemic but because I had a baby as well. It’s a complete overhaul. I don’t have a lot of time for myself, so I make sure the products I use for my skincare and self-care are efficient and worth the time!
